چکیده

We present Ripples, a system which enables around each contact point on a touch display these visualizations, provides feedback to the user successes and errors of their touch interactions. Our vis alization system is engineered to be overlaid on top of e isting applications without requiring the applications to be modified in any way, and functions independently of the application’s responses to user input. Ripples fundamental problem of ambiguity of feedback action results in an unexpected behaviour. can be caused by a wide variety of sources. We des ambiguity problem, and identify those sources. We then define a set of visual states and transitions needed to r solve this ambiguity, of use to anyone designing touch a plications or systems. We then present the Ripples impl mentation of visualizations for those states, and the results of a user study demonstrating user preference for the sy tem, and demonstrating its utility in reducing errors. Applications of Multi-touch Tabletop Displays and Their Challenging Issues: an Overview

Multi-touch tabletop displays provide a co-located collaborative workspace for multiple users around a physical table. They sit together and perform collaborative interaction to select and manipulate digital contents using their bare fingers. However, these systems bring a new paradigm shift in user interaction and present various challenges to design natural user interfaces respectively. The g...

True multi-touch displays: what, how and why

The characteristic feature of a true multi-touch display is the handling of a large number of interaction points. In this short discussion, we describe how these displays work, why they are ideally suited for large multi-user systems and what kinds of new user-experience they

Abstract Recently, traditional multi-touch surfaces are extended by stereoscopic displays and 3D tracking technology. While reaching and pointing tasks have a long tradition in human-computer interaction (HCI), the hand pre-shaping which usually accompanies them has rarely been con...

The Link-Offset-Scale Mechanism for Improving the Usability of Touch Screen Displays on the Web

Touch-screen interfaces have become a widespread-input-device tendency for computer systems. In this context, many studies investigate how to improve general usability for touch-screen devices. These studies consider different interaction design features that improve the usability for touch sensitive surfaces, considering the low accuracy it presents, given obstacles such as the “fat finger pro...
